Psalm 50: 7-14 (CEV)

My people, I am God!
    Israel, I am your God.
    Listen to my charges
    against you.
Although you offer sacrifices
    and always bring gifts,
    I won’t accept your offerings
    of bulls and goats.

Every animal in the forest
    belongs to me,
    and so do the cattle
    on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds
    in the mountains,
    and every wild creature
    is in my care.

If I were hungry,
    I wouldn’t tell you,
    because I own the world
    and everything in it.
I don’t eat the meat of bulls
    or drink the blood of goats.
I am God Most High!
    The only sacrifice I want
    is for you to be thankful
    and to keep your word.

Today’s Scripture:
Psalm 62:2 (MSG)
God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as God says. Everything I need comes from God, so why not? God's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I’m set for life.

Psalm 118:22 (MSG)
Thank you for responding to me; you’ve truly become my salvation! The stone the masons discarded as flawed is now the capstone!

Psalm 139 (MSG)

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?
    to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
    If I go underground, you’re there!
If I flew on morning’s wings
    to the far western horizon,
You’d find me in a minute—
    you’re already there waiting!
Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark!
    At night I’m immersed in the light!”
It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you;
    night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you.

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
    you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
    Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
    how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
    all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
    before I’d even lived one day.

Psalm 91 (MSG)

You who sit down in the High God’s presence,

    spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,

Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.

    I trust in you and I’m safe!”

That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,

    shields you from deadly hazards.

His huge outstretched arms protect you—

    under them you’re perfectly safe;

    his arms fend off all harm.

Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,

    not flying arrows in the day,

Not disease that prowls through the darkness,

    not disaster that erupts at high noon.

Sermon: Eric Strader

Scripture Reader: Kelly Murdock-Billy

Psalm 30 and 34 are psalms of thanksgiving by persons who have moved through trouble and distress. God has delivered us from our troubles and transformed our grief into joy again.

Psalm 30:5 (MSG)

"All you saints! Sing your hearts out to God! Thank God to God’s face!"

Psalm 34:18 (MSG)

"If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;

if you’re kicked in the gut, God'll help you catch your breath."

A word of God for a people of God

Thanks be to God.
